Season 2 Wrap - What Have You Learned and What’s Next?

Well, we’re here at the end of Season 2. What have you learned, and what’s next?

Were there things you expected to hear on this season that you didn’t?

Are you surprised that there wasn’t more talk about particular selling skills?

Let me be clear, selling skills make an impact. You definitely need to know what you’re doing, why you’re doing it, and how often it needs to be done if you want to be a top performer. The goal of this entire season was to point out that there’s a lot more that goes into next-level sales performance than knowing how to sell.

It’s really about bridging that gap between knowing and doing. It’s about being mindful and identifying the things that stop you from executing on what you know.

The first thing most sellers do when they want to level up is look for another tactic from another book or podcast or webinar. So often that’s the last thing you need.

Instead, you should be taking time out and assessing where you’re falling short and why. When you realize what you need, you may be surprised to find that you’ve already learned what you need, and you skipped the implementation part. Learning a new lesson just to skip implementation isn’t going to get you where you want to go, but taking that time out feels much harder than it should.

If you need permission, I’m going to give it to you now. Do a PARE process on yourself or your team.

Pause - take that timeout.

Assess - What’s your current situation? What do you need to do or achieve in order to improve your team’s performance?

Reflect- What are your options for implementing these changes. Do you really need to learn a new skill, or do you need to review something you’ve already learned?

Execute - The magic word. Stephen Covey used to say that to know and not do is to not know at all.

This exercise is one of the ways I help sales teams like yours, and if you think you could benefit from it, send me a message and let’s chat.

Two seasons in and I’m really excited about where the show is going. The companion ebook and course are published and available. You can find those on my website as well as the links in the show notes. You can also find this podcast on YouTube.

In Season 3 I’m going to make you rethink your prospecting. You’re going to get my unique perspective on the subject, and that should make you approach your work differently. You’ll have more clarity into why you do what you do to get your buyer’s attention, and that should help you do so in a way that makes you more comfortable.

You’ll also hear from rock stars like Andy Racic, Art Sobczak, Jason Bay, Mike Weinberg, Jeffrey Gitomer, Anthony Iannarino, Samantha McKenna, Mark Hunter, and Jeb Blount- folks, I am not messing around!

Please subscribe, review, and share this show wherever you get your podcasts.
